GUARD MOUNTING

The Queen’s Life Guard

The Queen’s Life Guard changes daily (Monday to Saturday at 11:00 hours and 10:00 hours on Sundays) at Horse Guards, Whitehall and alternates between the Life Guards and The Blues and Royals except for one month in late summer when The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery takes over from The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment. The Queen’s Guard

Guard Mounting at Buckingham Palace will take place at 11:30 hours on alternate days from August to April and daily in all other months. There will be NO Guard Mounting in very wet weather or on certain Ceremonial Days. Tel: London Tourist Board on 09068663344.

Windsor Castle Guard

Guard Mounting will take place at Windsor Castle at 11:00 hours on alternate days from August to April and daily in all other months. There will be NO Guard Mounting in very wet weather or on certain Ceremonial Days. Tel: London Tourist Board on 09068663344.

Guards Chapel

The Royal Military Chapel (The Guards Chapel). Wellington Barracks, Birdcage Walk London SW1. Services normally at 11:00 hours and 12:00 hour on Sundays. Members of the public are welcome. Tel: 020-7414-3228.

The Royal Hospital Chelsea Chapel

The Guards Museum

Royal Gun Salutes

Royal Gun Salutes are fired in London by The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery (41 Gun Royal Salute) in Hyde Park at 12:00 midday and by the Honourable Artillery Company (62 Gun Royal Salute) at the Tower of London at 1.00pm on the following dates and occasions.

6 February Accession Day

21 April Birthday of HM The Queen

2 June Coronation Day (Note: Fired in Green Park by KTRHA if date falls on QBP Review.)

10 June Birthday of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh (Note: Fired in Green Park by KTRHA if date falls on QBP Review.)

Note: If any of the above occasions fall on a Sunday the Royal Salutes will be fired on the following day as no Royal Gun Salutes are fired on Sundays.

Other events where Gun Salutes take place are:

Jun Official Birthday of HM The Queen. A 41 Gun Royal Salute will be fired in Green Park at 11:00hours and 62 Gun Royal Salute at the Tower of London at 13:00 hours.

Apr/Jul/Nov For London State Visits a 41 Gun Royal Salute will be fired in Green Park and a 41 Gun Royal Salute at the Tower of London. If the State Visit is held in Windsor a 21 Gun Royal Salute will be fired in the Windsor Home Park Private and a 41 Gun Royal Salute at the Tower of London. Timings vary.

Nov/Dec State opening of Parliament. A 41Gun Royal Salute will be fired in Green Park at 11:09hours and a 41 Gun Royal Salute at the Tower of London at 12:00 hours.

Nov Remembrance Sunday. A 2 Gun Salute will be fired on Horse Guards Parade. (One at the start of the 2minutes silence at 11:00am and one at the end at 11:02am)
